Your Vacation
Traveling to St.
Lucia
A valid passport is required to visit St. Lucia. There are two
airports, Hewanorra International (UVF) in Vieux Fort and George
F.L. Charles (SLU) in Castries, and each is serviced by a number of
major airlines. Airlines that fly into UVF include American
Airlines, Delta, Air Jamaica,Virgin Atlantic, Air Canada, US
Airways and British Airways. The SLU airport is used primarily by
Liat, American Eagle and Caribbean Star. American Airlines offer
daily nonstop flights from Miami or New York to UVF. Delta also
offers a daily nonstop flight from Atlanta to UVF.
When
You Arrive
Airport transfers can be arranged for transport to the
Treehouses. The drive from either Vigie Airport or Hewanorra
Airport is about one hour and costs approx $75US. The driver can
stop for groceries along the way. If your flight arrives on Sunday,
then arrangements can be made to have a few basic items in the
fridge. There are large grocery stores near both airports and
a few smaller grocery stores in Soufriere.
Getting Around
Traveling around St. Lucia can be done by taxi, water
taxi, walking or rental car. Typically, the "taxis" are
passenger vans which hold 10-14 persons. Water taxis are available
around Soufriere and Castries and most resort areas. Walking
to Soufriere to visit all the natural places of interest is a
great way to experience the town close up. Public transportation is
also available and inexpensive. If you would like to rent a
car, check out http://www.bensconcierge.lc/ or
http://www.coolbreezecarrental.com/.
It would be best to take a taxi from the airport to the Treehouse
so you can experience the ride. If you decide to get a rental
car, it can be delivered directly to the villa.
Currency
St. Lucia uses the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (EC) but US Dollars
are widely accepted. There are ATMs in Soufriere and throughout the
island and exchange bureaus are located in Castries, Vieux Fort and
the airports.
At
the Treehouse
The Treehouses are supplied with sheets, bath towels, basic
toiletry items, beach towels, beach chairs, coolers and BBQ grills.
The kitchens are fully-equipped with pots, pans,
utensils, microwave, stove and refrigerator. There are outdoor
grills and lounge chairs available on the patios next to the
beautiful plunge pools.
To make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible
Charmaine, the housekeeper/cook, is available for cooking and
cleaning upon request. A phone for local calls
and high-speed internet access for a computer are
provided. A guest book is available that offers
recommendations and suggestions for taxis, restaurants, tours and
misc. info.
Weather
Year-round temperatures are very pleasant and the average
temperature is in the mid to upper 80's. The sun's rays are very
strong year-round and skin protection is a must. The nights are
typically cool with a slight breeze.
